Hi ... using WIN XP/ FP 2000/ IIS.
I need to be able to retieve variable length (>255 characters) messages
which have been saved in a memo field in an access data base on the server.
I am using the following code to test this : -
<%
set objconn = server.createobject ("ADODB.connection")
set objrec = server.createobject ("ADODB.recordset")
objconn.open "DSN=daters"

Hello all,
This is going to be a rather lengthy "question".
I have an Access 2k database, separated front end/back end. Front end
copies are on about 30 workstations and used frequently during the
work day. The backend has a table called CLIENTS with approximately
6000 client records. Changes to data in the table are made via a
frontend db Form which has CLIENTS as its record source.

Hello all
I get Too few parameters expected 2 error and "The MS Jet Database
engine cannot find the input table or query "myTempTablename". Make
sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly. 3078" after I
migrated "MS Access 2000" to "MS SQL Server 2000" and relinked all
linked tables.
The front-end interface of my application is MS Access 2000. The
back-end is MS SQL Server 2000. After I migrated the database and

Hello all,
I receive the following error when updating MSAccess2003 Memo fields
using an ODBC connection in ASP.Net 1.1 when the length of the text to
be updated exceeds 255 characters. Everything works fine when the
length of the text stays below 255 characters. Does anyone have a
clue?:

I'm using PHPMyAdmin on an Apache2Triad install (latest version; 5.x.x,
which installs PHP5 and PHPMyAdmin 2.8 as well). In Access, I exported a
table to a text file, tab-delimited, text qualifyer of "none" (this is how I
read to do it from newsgroups).
When I use the Query window in phpmyadmin to import the text file, it waits
a while, then returns an error:
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that...

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to parse/format a memo field within a report.
The Access 2000 database (application) has an equipment table that
holds a memo field. Within the report, the memo field is printed within
the detailed area. The problem is, the apllication is not setup
properly, thus the users are entering data within the memo field as:
location1 1/1/2005 1/1/2006

Following on from an earlier post...
I can reliably corrupt a record by doing the following ...
Open two separate but identical front ends on one PC each linking to the
same back end.
Edit a records in one front end and leave it unsaved.
Edit the same record in the other front end and save the change.
Save the change in the first front end - this pops up the Write Conflict
message to which I click Save.

I'm using Access 2002 to create a database for a small opera company that my
wife is involved in, and I'm more than a bit rusty because I haven't created
a new Access database since about 1999. So, I will probably have quite a
few questions as I go through this, and hopefully this group will help me
out.
I will be creating this database for someone else to enter the data. I have
a patron table with name, address, email, etc., and I...

Somebody please explain this to me:
I've got an Access database with a table containing some 20 fields. A few
are boolean and integer, but most of them are string(50). And then I've got
one field that is a PM (Memo) field. That one is supposed to contain image
data in string format and the length of my "testimage" string was around
5600 characters.
To update the table I had an OleDbCommand:

I have a table with 250 fields. Of course you are wondering why 250
fields... what could I possibly be storing in so many fields?
I am using this table as a general import table for files that vary
based on user selections. The input files are CSVs and can number from
2 to 175 columns. Each field is usually able to fit into a Text field
(< 255 characters) but every now and then a longer field creeps in.
since I don't know in which column...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
