Hi,
I've recently upgraded from Access 97 to Access 2002 & the performance
basically stinks. I have tried the following items listed below but it
has only had a minor impact:
1) Upgraded Jet 4 to Service Pack 7
2) Set Subdatasheet Name to from
3) Shortened the file name of the .MDB file
4) Made sure the Track name AutoCorrect info is off

Designed a database in Access 97 that runs on a 2000 server and is
accessed by users using Windows 2000 client.
Reported that no more than 3 users can use it. There is one database
with the tables and the ability for one person to add/edit etc. A
second database links to the tables in the first one and that is
strictly for viewing. I know concurrency can go far higher so
wondering if there is a problem in windows 2000 server some sort of...

I currently have a multi-user access database which is put on a shared
drive L: on a Windows Servers. Entire database is one file premdb.mdb.
Users access this database from their laptops. Following problems
occur:
1. Access is way too slow in WAN environment. Server is located in New
Jersey and users are in California and Puerto Rico.

We've had a very large A97 app running fine for the last seven years.
I've just converted to SQL Server backend, which is being tested, but
meanwhile the JET based version, running under terminal server, has
suddenly started running very slowly. The network engineer has thrown
up his hands and said "It's Access 97". I've checked out lots of
things including the Oplocks setting and other stuff from this NG, and

I am planning on writing a stock and accounts program for the family
business, I understand this is likely to take close to 2 years to
accomplish. The stock is likely to run into over a thousand items and
the accounting side will be used for hopefully many years so the
entries are likely to be vast.

Hi,
I have a recursive application that walks through a directory structure on a
Hard Drive and writes various file information to a single table in an
Access 2003 database. I am opening a connection to the database at the
start of a worker thread that does all of the work. The connection is
closed when the worker thread completes. I am using a single method to
write a bunch of information to the table.

I need to convert a 17mb access 2000 db to Oracle and house it in a
Citrix farm. The issue: we have never converted an Access Db to Oracle
but can probably use Oracle's Workbench to assist with this. Also - the
citrix folks do not want us to keep the FE in Access as the queries and
other activities consume a lot of power. The users will be in 3
different offices across the globe all accessing the 1 Oracle DB in
Citrix.

I've got a bit of a situation that I could use some guidance with if
possible. I work for an auditing firm where my users audit electronic
shipping data for customers to see if they've been overcharged for
shipments by truck and rail carriers.
99.9% of the time, one of our auditors needs to see all data sent by a

Sorry for the long post, I've tried so hard to solve this one but I'm

We've had a multiuser .mdb file on a network share for years. I know
it's not ideal, but it's worked well from Access 2000 to 2003. Ever
since we upgraded to 2007, we've noticed some serious bloating.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
