Update query using Subquery Not working

Hi all,

I have the following query in Visual Foxpro that is throwing error.

UPDATE T1 set T1.C2 = (select T2.C2 from T2 where T1.c1 = T2.C1)

I tried several methods for updating the value of the another column.
It is not working. Can any one has any idea for using the subquery in
the Update statement?

if the subquery can return more than one value (if T1--(1,M)--T2)
then, this makes sense. How could you update a single record to
several records?

I've only just started using update queries and have a problem with the following query in that it comes back with this error: "Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression." Query: UPDATE tbl_customerpassword SET tbl_customerpassword.passnumber = '1111' where tbl_customerpassword.customerid = (

I need to bring the ssn's into UniqueSups (supervisors) from tblNonNormalized. My inherited DB is not normalized and I find it extremely irritating due to the workarounds needed. I created tblUniqueSups by doing a select Distinct Supervisor Name. Now I need to bring in the SSNs of the Unique Sups but I can't quite get it. I tried: UPDATE UniqueSups LEFT JOIN tblNonNormalized ON UniqueSups.NAME = tblNonNormalized.SupervisorName SET...

I want to be able to generate SQL statements that will go through a list of data, effectively row by row, enquire on the database if this exists in the selected table- If it exists, then the colums must be UPDATED, if not, they must be INSERTED. Logically then, I would like to SELECT * FROM <TABLE> WHERE ....<Values entered here>, and then IF FOUND UPDATE <TABLE> SET .... <Values entered here> ELSE INSERT INTO <TABLE> VALUES <Values...

Hi all, Over the years, I have had to keep dealing with the same Access restriction - that you can't update a table in a statement that joins it to another non-updateable query or employs a non-updateable subquery. I run across this problem again and again, and yet I've never come up with a single, universal work-around. I'm wondering what other people here are doing.

Hello all! I don't know if this can even be done, but I'm sure you will either help or suggest another avenue to accomplish the same. My problem may be a simple find duplicates / do something with only one of the duplicates issue, but I got to the point where an update query with a nested select subquery would work wonderfully, if only it would work! I have several fields in a master Access 2000 table, some of which are id, fname,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
