Why the Dependecy properties are static !?

Would you please explain why the dependecy properties are static because iam alittle bit confused !?

Dependency Properties are created so that it can be associated with styling,animation etc.
Dependency properties are always class properties..

Normal .NET properties can't go along with styling and animation.

eg. Storyboard.Begin() method uses the class Properties
