Windows Server 2003 Indexing Service

3 New Member
Hello, I am new to the Indexing Service and need a little help.

My main goal is for my Windows XP Pro SP2 users is to be able to use the Windows Search (start, search) function to search for files on the server and recieve the results immediately.

I have setup the Indexing Service on my Win server 2003 and it seems to work when I tested by using the "Query the Catalog" under Indexing Service in computer management. The results were immediate.

When I tested it from the Server and my Users workstations the results are returning immediately.

Can anyone help and give me a little insight on this matter.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

I did use this site when setting up the indexing on my server and it does seem to work when I tested it with "Query the Catalog" under the Indexing Services in Conputer Management. It does not seem to work when using the search in Ecplorer or from the start menu on my Server or Workstations. Any ideas??

If the website did not work for you, there is always ISYS and Windows Desktop Search as well as Google Desktop Search and Windows Vista built in Indexing service.
