Any URL which i type in IE is opening in Mozilla

58 New Member
Hi All,

I couldn't find more suiable forum to post it, hence i am posting it over here.
Actually, i was having the IE7 and Mozilla installed on my system. THen i had to test some UI on IE6, hence i uninstalled IE7 and thought IE6 would automatically be installed. But then whenever i used to type any URL in IE6 i got a message that you dont have association for this file and set it in folder options. I did the same. Ans somehow i was able to load the webpages in my IE6(Which used to open in another IE6 window). But then i set mozilla as my default browser and now whenever i type any url in IE6 it opens in mozilla. Can anybody please help me in fixing this problem.

Thanks

Well 1st did your re-install IE6? Because im pretty sure if you uninstall the IE7 its not going to just got back to 6.

Second if you set your default browser to Mozilla and you open IE6 and type a url in that opens another internet box, its going to open in Mozilla because you set your DEFAULT browser to Mozilla.

So any time a new internet window opens it will be in Mozilla because its your DEFAULT.

Thanks for your reply,

I tried to re-install IE6 but it says that you already have the more recent version of IE6 installed, the setup will abort now.

Ok, well as long as Mozilla is set to your default browser, regardless if you open a different browser on your own. Any new browser window will be opened in Mozilla.

I have a problem with that and a potential solution. :)

Until I d/l ie 7, I could type in a url in ie and go there. Firefox is my default browser. After dl ie7, it started doing that too.

I like the auto update in windows - needs ie. So I will be uninstalling ie and replacing it with a older copy. If it gets me to where I can go to a different url in ie than Firefox, I will repost the results.

thanks
