Problem with USB and Flash Drives (Windows XP)

1 New Member
flash drive not open
After formatting my laptop, I discovered that only USB port F opens. If you put a flash drive other than the one I am using it will not open. This has caused me a serious concern. Am on window xp. I have used my recoverable cd but no progress. Before the formatting, all flash I use open. Kindly advise me on what to do.

When you post your issue into someone else's, that is called thread hijacking, regardless of if it is the same issue or not. This time, I will separate the threads.

Will it not open at all? or does it not auto open? Can you access it by going to My Computer and then double click of the flash device (does the flash device show up?).

With the drive plugged in and seemingly NOT working and not showing up under my computer You may need to change the drive letter by right clicking on My Computer > Manage. and then go to "Disk Management" under "storage" section.

Find your flash drive, right click it and click on "Change Drive letter and paths" change it to a letter you know is not being used.

That should probably fix it unless there is something totally bogus going on!
