server space problem

65 New Member
we have a server running win2k3 server with a raid configuration for the hdd's - because of much data storage on the server, we are running low on disk space fast - does anyone have links or ideas for ways to "reclaim" the free space?

examples of what im looking for - ways to find old files, large files, redundant files, etc.

thanks in advance

I had a similar issue with my server when the Exchange server started feeling up th e primary partition so I had to move the data store to a different location. Same with temp files and log information.

I suggest you clear your temporary files and check that user folders are not full of junk.

Also check the actual built in user names in Documents and Settings and make sure they are free of junk as well.

Last but not least run defrag on the drives from system tools and empty internet data, any temp folders and unnecessary install folders.

I suggest getting a separate drive for storage of files rather then using your primary partition. Also get a good tape back up to have the data safe in case of hardware failure.

Good Luck, Cyber
