Just used hiren's 15 bootcd and ran a scan for virus's. Found 1887 infected files. After that the pc just logs on and off again. Tried safe mode and administrator, still does the same thing. My garmin gps is connecter to the pc by a usb cable, but the pc say's it cannot open the usb port, the gps worked ok with the pc the last time i used it, the programme i use to download wypoints from the gps is gps dump which i deleted and then re loaded, i have also deleted an replaced the usb drivers.

After pc starts up looks fine at user login screen, when i select user and it starts loading getting desktop icons loaded pointer shows busy symbol , then shuts off. No message just shuts off. Did system restore to earlier point, ran in safe mode scanned with norton, no viruses bit will still shutoff. Shutoffs are quick with no warning.
