VB 6.0, Data Environment & Access 2000 Databases

JP
Hello:

I am using VB 6.0 with a Windows XP Professional environment. I am also
using Access 2000. I am currently building a program and need reporting
capabilities. So, I started a Data Project (first time I've ever used it so
it's already a "mystery").

I clicked on DataEnvironment1 and showed the object. Then I added a
connection. Used the wizard and under:
Provider I Selected Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
Connection I selected the database that I want to connect to. My.mdb
(it is Access 2000)
User name: Admin
Blank password: checked
Tested Connection: Clicked and got popup tht said
"Test Connection Succeeded"
Advanced: Selected "Share Deny None"

Then hit "OK"

I used the icon along the top menu to add a child command: Command 1
Did a right click and went to properties

General Tab:
Command Name: Command1 Connection: Connection1
Selected Database object Option and changed it from "Stored
Procedure" to "Table"
Object Name: is blank...so hit the down arror and got a message:
Visual basic has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the
inconvenience . . .

And the program closed.

I've tried a different connection:
Provider: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
Connection: I tried the option Use DAta Source Name and selected "MS
Access Database"
Admin
My.mdb (Access 2000)

Test connection: Test connection failed because of an error in
initialilzing provider. 0x80040e21

Tried it with data source "Microsoft Access 4.0
Got the same error

In other parts of my program I've had to program connections for every
database/table from Access 2000...could not use a data control that would
work with Access 2000.

I've tried Crystal Reports, but it is a "bear" to distribute with my
program...tried it with other programs and can't get a handle on all the
dependencies and all that must be loaded with it onto the other machines..

So just really having problems ... and I need to be able to run reports on
the data.

Help!! Please... Is Access 2000 able to be used with the DataEnviroment and
the DataReport?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

JP
