CSV file to SQL data base file

Tasked with writing one of my first VB programs. Task is to read a CSV file and store it in a SQL data base file, then display in a grid format screen. Have created the SQL data base record (set up for ten fields-told that was max fields in CSV file). Problem is spinning my wheels oh how to start on reading the CSV file, in limited training only learn how to read SQL file.

First off, I'm talking VB6, so syntax etc. may vary depending on whether you are using Excel, Access, VB1/2/3/4/5/6, VB.Net, etc etc.

But as for reading the CSV file, perhaps the simplest way would be to Open it for Input and start reading a line at a time into a string, then loop through the characters in the string one by one and pick it apart into your fields.
