.Net for MicroISV?

Hello

I'd like some feedback on the use of .Net for apps that are deployed
in the wild, ie. without requiring any hand-holding.

Have you seen deployment problems, such as failure to install and
update the .Net framework on either XP or Vista, performance issues,
etc.?

Generally speaking, would you recommend .Net even for small-margin
applications meant for a non-techie audience running XP or Vista in
various states (SP0-2, anti-virus and firewall possibly in the way,
running as poweruser or limited user, etc.)? Thank you.

Thx for the tip. I'll use InnoSetup to check if the user is logged on
as admin, and download the framework + update if it's not already
there.

Yes, it's easy to deploy. The .NET framework has been auto-installed
onto most machines. If .NET is not installed, the VS.NET installer (or
other tools) have the ability to install it for the end user.
