I'm working on a form that contains dozens of button controls. When clicked,
if the button text has not yet been changed (e.g., .text is blank or = "add
item") then it pops up an inputbox and gives the user the option to rename
the button. Any button that has already been changed (.text is not blank and
<>"add item") will run other code when clicked, adding the button text as
part of a new database record.
My next step is to make the user's changes persistent over time; my instinct
is to save all these values to a text file, and save changes on closing the
application, and load the text on opening the application, but I realize
that may not be the best option. I'm not interested in adding or deleting
buttons- I really just need to make the text persistent. I haven't used XML
files, and I'm just starting with my first database.
Should I be looking at some sort of XML file, or even a way to link the text
property to a new database table? For either, can anyone point me toward
websites or any other information that would show a simple example on which
I can build?
Many thanks,
Keith
