How to fix AsyncRead in Microsoft's UsingtheCOMPortinVB.NET.exe class example?

joe
I am trying to use the VB.net RS232 serial port class example found on
Microsoft's site (UsingtheCOMPortinVB.NET.exe). All the of methods, that
I have tried seem to work fine except the "AsyncRead" method. When I use
this method I get the error "Read operation incomplete". This is
generated in the "pHandleOverlappedRead" routine when waiting for the
I/O to complete (at the line "iRes = WaitForSingleObject
(muOverlapped.hEvent, miTimeout)"). If the same code is executed (i.e.
"pHandleOverlappedRead") except a new thread is not created (i.e. I call
the "Read" method with overlapped I/O) then everything seems to work
fine. Can someone explain what is causing this error and how to fix this
problem? Thank you.
