Error loading package

Hi

vs2005 RC. When I try to add a new data connection to a winform app. I get
this message 'Package Load Failure, Package 'Smart Device Configuration
Package' has failed to load properly...'.

How can I fix it?

Thanks

John,

It sounds like you have a bad installation. Did you have any previous
versions of VS installed before you installed RC? If so, which version was
the last one and how did you remove it? It sounds like you may have had an
incomplete uninstall before installing RC.

I had the beta2 but I did uninstall it as per ms instructions. Anyway to fix
this, now that beta2 is no longer on the machine?

John,

I was able to successfully uninstall beta 2 using this un-install tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=47598
I think I'd try running this took, then check in Add Remove Program that you
don't see any SQL or NETCF or device emulator after running the tool - if
you do, remove them manually. Then try reinstalling RC. Hopefully this will
work, but I have one computer with an old beta 1 installation on it that I'm
unable to install a newer build on and will need to rebuild the machine.

Please let us know if this works or not.
