dotfuscator y ensamblados


Hola, hasta donde tengo entendido el dotfuscatos sirve para darle cierta
seguridad a los ensamblados de ser descompilados con algun programa , es
asi?

estoy haciendo una monografia donde explico esto, pero no se cuales
herramientas alternativas hay al dotfuscator y cuales son las herramientas
que pueden descompilar los ensamblados....alguien me podria dar algunos
nombres de estos programas????
