mantain session in webservices with windows forms

Hello.
I have an applicattion with visual basic.net, which uses windows forms.
How can I mantain a session in different calls to the same webservice?
(which uses some database access). The goal is not to open a database
session each time, mantanining the same OdbcConnection. If I put the
OdbcConnection (or just a Integer variable) like this:
Session("counter") = 1
the webservice forgets the variable "counter" in next call to it.
Thanks.
