My SQL Remote Access?

Hi I am newbie, after a lot of research I came to know abt 0000free.com as a free hosting provider which gives free hosting account with remote access to my SQL database, but I have a problem & need your help seriously.

What I'm willing to do -
I am currently working on a SMS gateway project & I'm not a good programmer @ all & my knowledge is self learning. Now I've installed Ozeki SMS Gateway software on my computer & in order for it to function it needs to connect to my SQL database..

I need to access the database via ODBC which I'm not able to achieve gets a common error as 10060.

My site - http://simsak.cz.cc
Credentials I've used -
TCP/IP - 96.9.189.10 (Shared Ip Address as I saw it in the cPanel of my 0000free.com account).
Also tried using -> simsak.cz.cc , 0000free.com respectively
User name - simsak_simon {DB username}(Also tried simsak , simon one at a time).
Password - xxxxx (DB password).

Also tried turning firewall on/off.

Also made change to my SQL remote access in cPanel (used % wildcard entry).. still no go
So am i doing anything wrong here resulting a failed connection.

Also I would like to add a point here as a part of this experiments I have created some account @ freesqldatabase.com / MySQLForFree.com / db4free.net AS they Provide remote access ONLY to my SQL Database but doesn't support webhosting & I was able to remotely access to my SQL database via ODBC without any problem... But I cant use their service for my project (which is a different problem 4me).....

So to cut this LONG story short

what i need to enter @ my database server PLEASE help me oh good souls....

Given that there are a number of factors in your problem, the biggest being there's a third-party app involve, you might want to ask people from 0000free.com first. Since this is more of their app's problem, than a SQL Server problem.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks for answering really appreciate, I would assume the "App's Problem" that u'r referring to is Ozeki SMS gateway, but I'm not using it at all to communicate to my SQL database it works absolutely fine as I was able to use this same application to connect to db3free.net (which provides free database access from remote location), What I'm using is ODBC as the application to connect & was also successful using ODBC to connect to same db4free.net.Now this takes the Application's Fault out of picture. Now about getting remote access to my SQL database,If u know any webhosting service provider that do give access to database remotely I'll even appreciate that.
Now let me tell you why I can't use db4free.net service,as my webhost server is 000fess.net or let's assume that it can be any other service,So I'll have to make change to the PHP file thats trying to connect to my database whcih works absolutely fine if the database is located in Local-host(000fees.net in my case) & it accquires the connection without any problem BUT when I enter the strings to connect it to db4free.net with the user name & password assinged to my db4free.net account it returns me an error some Socket error (2) ... So I'm not a professional programmer though I can do some modification looking @ some examples (trial & error strategy).Si right now I'm Stuck WHERE I know for sure that MY Application Ozeki SMS gateway is able to connects to remote datbase (db4free.net) AND the PHP file whcih I have Uploaded @ http://lsiomsvake.000fees.net/sqlsmshandling.php works fine if asked it to connect to local host,BUT when I enter the connection string to connect it to db4free.net it doesn't work.. WHY I dont know AS I'm only changing the Database location with the user name & Password... CAN U PLEASE HELP....
OR atleast will u be able to Advice, if I get an normal webhosting account with Godaddy or Hostgator or any one recommended by you will I'll be able to connect to my SQL database remotely via ODBC as then the Both SQL database & the PHP file will be located on same server I guess. OR DO I HAVE to GET A VPS or Dedicated Server to achieve my objective.
I Really HOPE u have understood MY PUZZLE.. Once again Thanks a Lot for replying back HIGHLY APPRECIATED,As you were the first person to get back with a reply.. after I have posted my Question to lots of forums & yahoo answer.

Hi Simon,

I hope it's not to late.

This is my first post on Bytes, so you should feel very special. Lol. Anyway, I had some trouble connecting to MySQL remotely on 0000free.com too. I tried everything I could think of in terms of what to use for the hostname, and nothing worked. I continued getting failed connection errors.

Anyway, I contacted 0000free, and I'm now able to connect. They needed to add my account IP to their firewall. That's it. After that I could connect using either my domain name, or my account IP as the hostname when connecting remotely. Just make sure you've specifed the IP addresses that should be allowed to make remote connections. You can do this in the CPanel control panel. Just click "Remote MySQL", and add the IP address under "Access Hosts". To allow any, just enter a % sign. Although, that's seems to be widely frowned upon. ( I just realized you already did this, sorry. :) )

Just so you know, another free host I found to be pretty good was HelioHost.org. I can make remote MySQL connections with them no problem, and they didn't need to do anything special like add my account IP to their firewall. It just worked. However, between the two free hosts (HelioHost, and 0000free), 0000free seems a bit more reliable (far less down time).

Well, I hope that helps, Simon. Let me know.
