I have access to a Microsoft SQL server, but can only access it from the
same local webserver. I need ideally to be able to access it, for both
reading and writing, from a different webserver / computer application,
which isn't directly possible. The local webserver which has access to the
SQL server has both PHP and ASP on it, so I was wandering if its going to be
possible for me to put together a page in one of PHP or ASP that will act as
a translator between the two. I know it will be fairly easy to send the
query from the remote website to the database, just using a post/get string
and sending that to the SQL server, but i'm not sure how I could get all of
the results back to the remote server for processing and usage of the
results. Ideally i'd like to have just one script on the local webserver
that will interpret everything and return whatever is needed, without having
to be reprogrammed to cope with specific queries. Is this going to be
reasonably possible, just to take the result of the query that is run and
send the whole lot to the remote website either as a mssql result set or as
an array of values I can access as normal arrays?
Any help greatly appreciated
And I can't change the SQL server since its provided by my university, and
apart from this limitation is very powerful, very fast on the campus
network, and with unlimited free storage space and tables.
Thanks
