special caracters while importing data with DTS from MyODBC

When importing data into MS SQL Server 2000 from a MyODBC (v3.51) data
source using Data Transformation Services, special characters like öäüéàè
are not imported correctly. However, when the MyODBC data source is used in
any other program like Access, Excel etc. it works fine.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Any hint to solve this problem
would be very much appreciated!

I don't know what MyODBC is, but it sounds like someghing that comes
with MySQL. Nor do I know DTS very well...

But since I usually take a stab at charset issues....

1) What datatype are the target columns in SQL Server? char, nchar?
2) What collation do the columns have? (You see this with sp_help)
3) In what way are the characters wrecked. That is, which characters
do you get instead? If you get non-ASCII characters, it might be
a good idea to post a screen-shot on a web site and give a link.
