SQL Server - High CPU Usage

1 New Member
Hi,

For the last week, our production SQL server is running very slow and causing the CPU usage to go 80-100 % almost all the time. This causes certain queries to time out. Our application has never timed out before ever. Also, we did not do any updates on our production machine or installed anything recently.

Has anyone of you ever experienced this issue? If yes, then what did you do to resolve it? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

You need a real DBA to take a look at this issue.
It can be multiple causes for this problem.
One of them could be lock of space on the server or in some cases database maintenance wasn't performed as it should.
If everything mentioned above is OK then you should set a trace on what is going on on the server or run some queries to find out if unattended process is hanging for several days and blocking everyone. It could be transaction log overgrowth and so many other reasons that if you are not having DBA experience I would recommend finding someone who does.

Good Luck.
