Problem Loading (python blocked by firewall) [solved]

I don't know whether it was right to put this here but anyway.

I have downloaded the 2 latest Python loads, 2.4 and 2.5 and both won't load. A window pops up and says that there is a Socket Error and connection was refused. Any tips.

Please tell us which operating system you are using and where you got your download from. If you can copy and paste the error in your post, that would help a lot. Thanks for posting to the python forum! We're here to help you get started and learn (IMHO) the coolest computer language on the planet.

I am using a Windows XP and I got both downloads from python.org's downloads. Both 2.4 and 2.5 failed to load and the exact message is:

Socket Error: Connection refused

Does that help, I hope learning python will be difficult without a working prompt.

So they are installed, right? Are you launching from the Start Menu?
Python (command line)? IDLE (Python GUI)? We need details in order to be able to help you. Thanks for posting.
Also, it sounds like a firewall might be blocking something. Which firewall are you running?
