Taking variable value from one file to another file

Hi,

Here i have two files.
first.pl
and second.pl

now i have a variable $i=8; in the first.pl
but i want the $i=8 in to the second.pl

in php we have $_SESSION['name']=$i;
by using above session creation we can send value from any page to any page
