Renaming an Oracle Server

To begin with, I am not an Orcale DBA. Merely a Network Engineer with
a Project. Part of the project requires the renaming of a few Windows
2000 servers running Oracle 9. At this point, I do not even know if
this can be done successfully.

Has anyone ever done this successfully? If so, can you or someone
point me to a document that lists the steps that must be taken to
rename the server without thrashing the databases?

Thanks
AB
