Missing iamodapp.so ( Oracle 9.20 /Linux)

To all:

I am installing SAP running on top of an Oracle 9.20 database in a Red Hat Linux ( ES R4 ). My database is up and solid. However, during the post Oracle DB installation scripts, I am bombing out with the following error:

FRY-00001 Cannot Load Library iamodapp.so: iamodapp.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have searched the web for this error and found two other occurrances but no solution posted.

I have a supported copy of Linux and can down load and install a package if I knew which one contained this library.

Anyone else have this problem and found a solution?

To all:

I will answer my own question. I posted on a number of sites and was able to get some assistance. So in the interest of those who may stumble across this posting in the future please find this solution:

For Linux installation ( Red Hat ) the SAP note 722273 (release 3 and 4 ) is the primary source for any issues which arise. You will find a section of the message that reads:

...the installation process aborts in "Create sap license" with error message "library iamodora missing", some libraries needed are missing to work around this, either after it aborts or event before staritng the installation unpack the libraries into the installation directory using:

SAPCAR -xvf /<sapinst-CD>/SAPINST/UNIX/LINUX_32/SAPPROD.SAR

NOW ... what the note does not tell you is the file referenced above does not exist on ANY of the installation media in my kit. So, the back up command (not documented at the time of this post) is the following ...

1. Copy the installation media dvd to a directory on a files system
2. change directories into the sub-directory which contains the executable (sapinst)
3. run the command sapinst -extract
4. It will unpack the missing libraries into the same directory where you executed the command..
5. I copied these libraries to /oracle/<SID>/920_32/lib
6.. All was right with the world... the oracle installation continued...

Hope this helps someone else... I lost days to this issue. This procedure should be attempted if any ia*.so libraries are not available during the installation.
