Hi,

The range of extended ascii values is from 128-255. To get the extended ascii value you can use the Asc function in Vb .net .
e.g.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. ''give required char to get the ascii code using Asc function
  2. Dim ascVal as Integer = Asc("some char")

Typecast the value to any numerical datatype.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. int myi = (int)'a';
  2. byte myi = (byte)'a';
  3.
Direct comparisons can be made.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. bool a = ('a'==97);
  2. bool b = ('a'==0x61);
  3. //both a and b are true
  4.
