returning data as plain files C# ASP.NET

I have an aspx page which contains some HTML and an aspx.cs which contains some C# code. In the aspx.cs file I have a string(of XML data) which I would like to send to the browser.

Response.Write seems to be returning part of my HTML which is not good. I just want the xml to be returned just like if you were loading a link to an xml file directly (http://linktopage/test.xml). Only the content would show up in the browser.

Any help or pointers appreciated,
Thanks

right now here is what Response.Write gives me
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. <data test="2" test2="4" />
  2. <data test="2" test2="3" />
  3. XML page cannot be displayed
  4. Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
  5. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. Cannot have a DOCTYPE declaration outside of a prolog. Error processing resource 'http://
  7.  <!DOCTYPE html
  8. <data test="1" test2="2" />
  9. <data test="6" test2="1" />
  10. <data test="8" test2="1" />
