public static DataSet ExecuteDataSet(SqlDataAdapter da)
{

//SqlDataAdapter da = null;
da = null;
DataSet ds = new DataSet();

try
{
da = new SqlDataAdapter();
da.SelectCommand = (SqlCommand)cmd;
ds = new DataSet();
da.Fill(ds);
}

Couple things:

1) Why pass in the SqlDataAdapter (da) if you just overwrite it with the da = new SqlDataAdapter(); line?

2) Where is the cmd variable coming from?
