Sending a GUI a windows message from a windows service

2 New Member
I have a windows service which listens for data on the com port. I would like to send the GUI app which reports this data (via a DB) a message that new data has been received.

I assumed the easiest way would be to send a windows message but then realised the service is not derived from a form class.

What is the best way to trigger the gui app from the service. I have seen remoting mentioned but this seems a little over kill. Any code samples would be great as I'm fairly new to C#.
