.Net applications in IE Browser

Hello,

We have migrated a Vb6 fat client application to VB.Net (VS 2005). The VB6
application is a windows based application that contains a Activex document
allow end-users to open the application in the IE browser. The application is
also opened by clicking on the exe file.

The migrated application (VB.Net) is a windows based-application, so the
user can launch it by clicking in the exe file. The VB6 Activex document was
converted to an User Control. To Allow end-users to open the application from
the IE Browser we created a HTML page that instatiates the UserControl (which
opens the main App form).

The HTML looks like:
<OBJECT
classid="http://localhost/MyTest.dll#MyTest.UserControl1"
id="oControl" height="300" width="300" >
</OBJECT>

This approach requires a Virtual Directory (configured using the IIS) that
contains application binary files and the HTML page.
However, because the application is a fat client, we don't want to install
the IIS in every machine were this applications is installed, so this
approach is not valid for our purposes. So, we'd like to know if there exist
any other way to open a .Net application in the IE browser that does not
require the IIS server.

Is possible doing something like:
<OBJECT
classid="c:\MyTest.dll#MyTest.UserControl1"
id="oControl" height="300" width="300" >
</OBJECT>
?

I'd apprecciate your help on this matter to bring a quick response to our
customers.

Regards,
