Allow users works but not allow roles

1 New Member
Hi

I'm trying to implement roles onto a .NET2 enviroment running IIS using Form Authentication. Using default aspnet login screen working back to a SQL server.

The Web. config for directory is as follows

<configuration xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<allow roles="Full" />
<deny users="*" />
</authorization>
</system.web>
</configuration>

The main web.config file in the root directory is

<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms
loginUrl="login.aspx"
protection="All"
path="/"/>
</authentication>
<authorization>
<allow users="*"/>
</authorization>

Using allow user = "user Id" works fine but as soon as I try to use the roles no luck. This work locally on my development machine but as soon as I load it onto my live site it will not work.

The user gets autheicated as I've checked this at page level but I can't return the role information.

Are you using IIS to ensure that your users are actual network domain users before they are logged in?
