C# program to find current number of Active User Sessions at your website

In my program, I need to print the current number of active users at this website, means How many number of people are currently accessing the website.
Can anyone please tell the solution: How to write the code in C# for:
Current number of Active User Sessions at your website

What are you authenticating your users against? A database? A flatfile? Some active directory? Everytime you get a login event increment a counter. Everytime you get a logout event or if a user timesout decrement the counter.
