HI, i would also be interested in knowing if there is a free tool
which ca be used to make your own installation packages... The tool
that I am using right now is windows installer 3.1 which comes with
studio 2005. I need a more advanced one.. PLease if aybody knows, let
me know.

For all our installations, I use InnoSetup (along with the ISTool
interface). Pretty easy and uses PascalScript for scripting (which pretty
much allows you to create anything you want inside the installation). Fully
customizable installations and easy to learn! :) www.jrsoftware.org or www.innosetup.org

I use WiX and I like it a lot. See: http://wix.sourceforge.net
WIX seems to be the free tool of choice these days for building MSI files. http://www.google.com/search?q=WIX
There are even some GUI-Based WIX editors that seem pretty cool.
