Opening a Application file through .net

i need to open a notepad file or word file from the concern location through .net.
For example i have file bas.txt in d: i need to open that notepad file when i click a button in asp.net, similarly i have a powerpoint applicaiton in c:\abdul.ppt , i need to open that powerpoint application when i click a button in asp.net. can anyone tell me how to do that.
i tried with Process.Start(filename) , but it does not work
