execution behaviour

I have a program in vb.net 2005 (windows app) which has to parse a
large number of files. When I run the program on 7 files, it only reads
3 or 4. But if I run the program in debug mode on the same set of files
(7 files), then it reads all 7 files. There is no filtering on the
files and all files should be read.

A line of thought is when the program is run, it has more than one
thread and that's why it skips few files. I was using
Application.DoEvents() but then I commented it out.
