compiler error messages have incorrect line numbers!

I am working on a C++ program in .NET. The compiler
generates error messages that are associated with the
wrong line numbers (which is extremely frustrating).
Also, the debugger arrow is positioned on the wrong line
after breakpoints and steps.

Can anyone explain this to me?

The following is added information that may be related to
the symptoms I am seeing:

Originally the program was a VS 6.0 workspace in C++
stored on a SAMBA server. I copied the workspace/project
files and source files from the server to my laptop. When
I openned the workspace/project in .NET on my laptop the
workspace/project was, of course, converted to a
solution/project.

I do not know if it is related. However, when I have strange behaviour, I
try to delete the .ncb file that is located in the same directory as the
solution.
So if you find such a file, your could try to delete it (it will
automatically create a fresh one).

I deleted the .ncb file and re-compiled. Unfortunately,
the problem did not go away. In all cases, I appreciate
the suggestion.

This happens to me from time to time.
I always end up closing VS.NET and rebooting my machine.
That usually takes care of it. Its annoying. If anyone
else out there has a better way of solving this problem
please let us know! : )
