Fixes to bugs...

A few of the bugs I've followed have been reported by MS as fixed in the
MSDN Product Feedback Center. But as far as I can tell, there have been no
updates to the versions on our systems. So, what good are fixes to bugs if
the versions on our machines are still old and still have the bug?

I guess I'm asking, how to we get fixes to bugs to VS C++.NET? I'm using
both Express and Pro, and I'm guessing the two would require different
patches. Can I assume that Windows Update DOESN'T do this, or does it?

Specifically. There was a well-known IntelliSense bug that caused the
application to lock up:

YEAH! - they say it's bee fixed! But - SIGH - the fix isn't doing me any
good if I can't get a patch.

From some of the comments to the bug reports, it sounds to me as
though MS are planning a service pack release of VS2005 relatively
soon (relatively probably means sometime in the next 6 months) - but
this is pure speculation on my behalf.

If you have a particular bug that's causing you significant problems
contact MS by phone and report the problem, they may well have a fix
available (that's not generally available).

Yes. VS2005 SP1 has been officially announced (along with VS 2003 SP1). No
date set yet, of course, but it's coming. IIRC, it's 1st half of 2006.

I general you can contact product support and request a hotfix. Maybe MS
has one for this...

For service packs see:
