Can invoke a webmethod from a consoleapp but not from javascript..

Hi, I'm currently developing my first .NET 2.0 webservice and I have
stumbled into some problems. When i call webmethods from a console app
which has a webreference to the webservice everything works fine. It
also works just fine when I call a webmethod with javascript code from
a computer that is on the same subnet as the webservice if the
"webpage" is published on the "calling" computer. However computers
outside of that subnet gets an "service unavailable" error when they
run the javascript code which calls the webservice. Anyone knows what
might be wrong??

Other info:

I never use relative urls only absolute. So there is nothing wrong with
them.

The webservice worked fine with .NET 1.1 except that the firewall
sometimes removed the soapaction row from the http header. So I can't
use .NET 1.1..

I'm so confused. It works just fine except when i try to call the
freaking webservice with javascript code outside of the subnet... :(
