Dear all,
I have an application which is suppose to start another executable process.
As soon as that process is running, I need to retrive its handle. The
problem of the particular process I am starting is that it has a welcome
window first which gets displayed and then the real windows after a while,in
other words it means that the...

Hi,
I would like to start a new process and be able to read/write from/to
it. I have tried things like...
import subprocess as sp
p = sp.Popen("cmd.exe", stdout=sp.PIPE)
p.stdin.write("hostname\n")
however, it doesn't seem to work. I think the cmd.exe is catching it.

I've got a program that contains a crystal report, and it has a function that
saves off one report for each branch of the company, in a loop.
This all works beautifully, however - if the user closes the form while the
saving is taking place (it does take quite a long time) then it mysteriously
CARRIES ON saving the PDFs! The process is still...

How to wait for a process to stop completion is my goal. Obviously, the
looping while waiting for the HasExited property is not a solution.. but
thats the best I can come up off the top of my head. Natuarally it will not
work. I expect it to use up all resources looping, which will not allow the
process to complete. The process takes about...

Hello all, This is my first time posting a question to this forum, so here is
hoping I am following protocol. I am scraping the rust off my old Basic
programming skills, and have just recently upgraded to VB.NET, and I have a
lot of catching up to do. That being said, I have come a long way in a short
while, however, I am stumped at the...

Hi guys
I have a time critical process, running on a worker thread. By "time
critical", I mean that certain parts of the process must be completed in a
specific time frame. The time when the process starts is not especially
important, but it must be complete within a small number of seconds.
The operations I am performing do not take a...

I am using the Process class to run an external application from my
application. The first time I call the .Start() method it takes several
seconds for the process to actually start. Subsequent calls to .Start() go
very fast as is how I would expect it. Has anyone seen this before and
perhaps found a workaround? Thanks

Hi,
My production machine has 2G of memory, when aspnet_wp.exe goes up to about
~1.2G of memory usage, I start get out-of-memory exception. Other processes
don't use as much memory and I added all the peak memory usage of all the
processes (including aspnet_wp.exe), it goes up to no more than 1.5.
How is that possible? Would anyone know...

All,
I'd appreciate any help. I've got a list of files in a directory, and
I'd like to iterate through that list and process each one. Rather
than do that serially, I was thinking I should start five threads and
process five files at a time.
Is this a good idea? I picked the number five at random... I was
thinking that I might check...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
