Better Help?

Can anyone tell me what resource you use to get help with C# VS? or VS in
general? I have been programming in Delphi for 10 years and am just getting
started with VS and I have to say that the level of community help pales in
comparison. Borland seems to have many more people more than willing to
help and this forum seems a bit slow and rude. There have been very few
cases where I"ve gotten help here and even then it seems to take a long time
to get.

I'm not trying to be rude, just wondering where everyone is going because I
expected to have much more activity on a Microsoft forum compared to a
Borland forum...

Hi Glenn,

The groups are monitored by MVP's. Microsoft support staff and thousands of
community volounteers. I suppose getting answers really depends on the
questions your asking and if the right people are around at the time - and
if your asking the questions in the correct news group. There are also a
whole bunch of other resources available like the forums at www.asp.net and
the resources at http://support.microsoft.com/ to help you out but generally
most of the questions asked end up being viewed by someonebut the support in
the more focussed groups tends to be a little better than the general group.

As for rude, well I would ignore the trolls as most people in here are
normally courteous and at least try to identify some way forward for
posters. Give it a little time, and try a few of the other newsgroups.

Thanks for the response. I am finally getting a little help in the C# forum
on a general COM question but still confused as to why so few people seem to
live here. Borland has a much smaller following I would think than VS does
but perhaps I'm wrong. I have been programming and using forums for over 10
years to ask questions and i've never experienced such frustrations with the
Borland Crowd. They seem to be a lot more interested in helping others out
than what I have experienced here. However, I will continue to try and see
if that turns around.

P.S. The asp.net forum is a joke and takes literally weeks sometimes to get
replies on. I still have posts over there that have not been answered in
over 3 months...

If you think there are few people here, I suspect you're coming to the
forum in a way that isn't letting you see all the messages. The C#
newsgroup gets several hundred messages a day, for example.

Are you using a normal newsreader, or a web interface? (Your message
headers suggest you're using OE, which would imply you're using a
normal news interface - perhaps you haven't got it set to retrieve
enough messages at a time?)

Yes, some questions won't get answered, either because no-one knows the
answer or because maybe you haven't answered the question in a way
which makes it easy to find the answer (or even understand what you
want). I've never been on a forum where absolutely *every* question
gets answered.
