.NET apps with strings invisible on dialogs and buttons until focus change

On my machine all .NET applications have a problem:
often the strings on dialogs and buttons and in listboxes
are INVISIBLE. When the dialog goes out-of-focus and returns
in focus, the strings are VISIBLE again.
Also, with .NET applications the icons have a black background.
On other machines, the same .NET applications work fine.
On my machine, they worked fine until 2 days ago.
I have deinstalled and reinstalled the dotnetfx, but that didn't help.
I work with Windows XP and the Microsoft Developer Studio 7.
What can be wrong on my machine? Has anyone experienced this?
Any tips?!!

Have you recently installed McAfee VirusScan 8? There is a known bug
with that can cause your symptoms. There is also a patch on their site
that resolves the issue.

If Chris's suggestion doesnt work, check your video card and drivers.
We had the same issue and drove us nuts trying to find out what the
problem was. Changed our video drivers to a more updated version and
the problem went away. Also this problem can also happen if you are
using a Video Card that uses shared memory, and your machine is running
out of memory.

The description of "Patch 5 for McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i
VSE80P05 " really does fit my problems.
Now I've got to convince our system administrator
to download and install the patch.

If that doesn't work, I'll try to download a new driver.
Since the problem appears immediately after start-up a memory-sharing
probably is unlikely.
