Sharing events between .net and C/C++

Hi

I've got the following problem
In my solution I wrote a VB .NET application and a MFC (statically linked) DLL. Now, the application sometimes calls functions in the dll (delcared by: public declare function X lib "test.dll"()), to do some stuff the framework does not support
So, what's the problem? Sometimes, an event occurrs in the DLL (e.g. a timer elapses, the status of something changes, an error is thrown, etc.), which shall be reported to the .net application
As there seems to be no way to call .net functions out of unmanged code (as C++ is), the challenge remains to inform the .net app about the 'event' and supply some data about it (this could be e.g. error information, a status report, or anything else)
Any idea how this could be done

Thanks a lo
Sam
