1st ever problem installing Linksys wireless Media adapter s/w

I'm reaching out to anyone reading this to help me try to resolve a problem I'm having trying to install the software app that came with my new Linksys Wireless Media Adapter, WMA11B. Upon completion of the install the following error message appears and essentially the app fails at that point: XWPCHostService.exe Common Language Runtime Debugging Services - "Application has generated an exception that could not be handled." process id=0x8e8(2280) thread id=0x91c(2332

I have spoken to the tech support people at Linksys who asked me to update to the latest version of .NET Framework of which I have version 1.1 and that hasn't solved the problem. They are stumped and I'm hoping to get some help from this group from anyone who knows what this error message might mean and how to resolve it

Thanks in advance for any help
