Web Service added to a Mixed DLL

I created a Mixed Managed/Unmanaged .Net MFC application to serve as an
interface between my C++ application & my web service. I get the following
linker error when I add my web service as a web reference to this Mixed
Managed/Unmanaged dll:
Cannot open compiler generated file: /link /dll /out:PlacementService.h.dll'
It seems that this file was not generated
What is this file & why would it not get generated?

Thanks
