Flat File/XML

If I have a flat file, and an XSD, is it possible to convert the delimited
flat file to XML?

Thanks,

Stephen Andrews

Thanks,

Given an appropriate XSD filter you should be able to parse a flat file.
However, XSD is not really the best approach; try a parser generator like
the Lex/Yacc combination.

Hi Stephen,

First of all, I would like to confirm my understanding of your issue. I'm
not quite sure what you need to do. Do you need to generate an XML file
using the XSD or generate the Xml file from the flat file and validate it
with the XSD?

As far as I know, we can do the latter one, but the former one is
impossible. Because XSD is used to validate well-formed Xml files, not the
flat files. If you need to generate an Xml file using .NET, I suggest you
read the file one by one to a .NET DataSet and use DataSet.WriteXml to
achieve this.

HTH. If anything is unclear, please feel free to reply to the post.
