Technical or design issue - please help

KS
Hi,

We are trying to do mail merge (Word 2000) from a SQL2000
server in a network environment.

We has built a Web base Visual.Net project (C#) to query
the SQL2000 database and format into a CSV format file.

When someone click on a button on the webpage the CSV file
is automatically generated on the webserver.

User would then run mail merge (Word 2000) pointing to the
CSV file as data source.

The issue:
Users require different data in the CSV file. Therefore
different user will has to generate different CSV
filename.

This create an issue because the mail merge document has
to be customised to point to different data source for
different user.

We thought of generating just one CSV filename and copy
down to user's local drive. So that the mail merge
document data source would only has to point to one fixed
location. But the programer said he has to create an
activeX component to do the copying and it will take 2
weeks.

Is there a better way to do it? Would appreciate any
advise or suggestion.

Thank-you
KS
