Why cant I serailize a datarow?

Im getting frustrated with .NET 2005 Who at MS decideded that a web service
could not accept a DataRow as an input or reference veriable? If the results
your passing to a web service only contain a single row of data, why in the
world would you want to pass an entire dataset for one row. Seems like a
waste of network traffic.

Anywho, Ive heard this is now possible with 2.0 framework, but I havent be
able to get it to work. Has anyone been able to use DataRow or DataTable in
C# as a Ws parameter?

thx for letting me vent

JP, the only constructor for DataRow is "protected internal". That means
that neither you, nor the serialization code, can create a DataRow.

In general, you should try not to use .NET-specific types in web services.
Even if all of your clients today are based on .NET, that may not always be
the case.

Hello group Maybe this is not the right NG, but this problem seems to me to be more language related than ADO.NET. How can I write the constructor for specialization of DataRow which will take a datarow as parameter. Something like: class MyDataRow : DataRow {

I have a function that populates a class with values from a database. I'd like to pass into the function either a SqlDataReader or a DataRow, depending on which mechanism I'm using to retrieve data from the database. However, the two classes don't appear to have any common interfaces that would allow me to enumerate the fields. Yet, when you databind you can pass either of these classes (as well as many others) and .NET somehow knows how...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
