Hi. I'm writing a little c# program to list all the files in a
selected directory longer than a given size. The problem is that when
it finds a file that is too long for Windows, I get the
PathTooLongException error. I try to handle the exception, but can't
do anything because, well, the file is too long. I can see what and
where the offending file is in the Locals window, so .NET can obviously
read the file path, but I can't write...

Yesterday I was told that GetType(string) should not just be with a Type, but
be Type, AssemblyName. Fair enough, get the reason. (Finally!).
As long as it doesn't cause tech support problems down the line...
What happens when my code is run on a station that only has framework 3.0 or
4.0, and this assembly, with version number defined for 2.0.0.0 , isn't

I recently got an error and I don't know how to fix it:
Error 1 'System.Data.DataColumn' does not contain a definition for
'Windows' C:\c#\CsharpPRO\Form1.Designer.cs 304 77 CsharpPRO
I am note sure what to do because all propertiers work, except the
System.Data.DataColumn..
I didn't write any code by hand and used the visual studio to set the
properties..

A routine I have that grabs all file names (fully qualified) from a
directory tree is getting the above error. The error message says: "The
path is too long after being fully qualified. Make sure path is less than
260 characters."
This is clearly a system limitation built into the framework. Has anyone
been able to overcome this limitation? Has anyone a work-around for this?

I got a System.IO.IOException in my app on another computer, so I
couldn't debug it. I don't think it was a HD error. What else could
