System.IO.PathT ooLongException

Hello,

Ever got this error?
The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified
file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be
less than 248 characters.

Since the .NET Framework does not support long filenames :-(
I had to write a library that calls the WIN32 API and wraps those functions
like System.IO.

Delimon.Win32.I O replaces basic file functions of System.IO with long path
names support for characters up to 32,767 Characters
So bye bye MAX_PATH problem
Note : It does not support all functions. basic file
copy/move/delete/attributes only

You can download my library here:

Hi. I'm writing a little c# program to list all the files in a selected directory longer than a given size. The problem is that when it finds a file that is too long for Windows, I get the PathTooLongException error. I try to handle the exception, but can't do anything because, well, the file is too long. I can see what and where the offending file is in the Locals window, so .NET can obviously read the file path, but I can't write...

Yesterday I was told that GetType(string) should not just be with a Type, but be Type, AssemblyName. Fair enough, get the reason. (Finally!). As long as it doesn't cause tech support problems down the line... A routine I have that grabs all file names (fully qualified) from a directory tree is getting the above error. The error message says: "The path is too long after being fully qualified. Make sure path is less than 260 characters." This is clearly a system limitation built into the framework. Has anyone been able to overcome this limitation? Has anyone a work-around for this? Thanks.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
