Sub Main()
Console.OutputE ncoding = Unicode

I'm having trouble with Unicode encoding in DOM. As a simple example, I read in a UTF-8 encoded xml file such as: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <aText>letter 'a' with umlaut: ä</aText> And when I serialize it, it comes out encoded as ISO-8895-1. But I don't think the problem is with serialization. In processing my XML files, I'm matching bits and pieces of text and attributes with some

Hello there, I'm writting (or trying to) a Console Application in C#. I has to be console. I remember back in the old days of Cobol (Unisys), Clipper and even Basic, I used to use a program (its name i cannot recall now...) where I designed the "screen" using this "program" and then saved it into an ASCII file. (thus, using 'extended' ASCII's like Lines, Corners, etc. and making screens look nicer and more professional). Then reading a...

Hello, I'm using Pythonwin and py2.3 (py2.4). I did not come clear with this: I want to use win32-fuctions like win32ui.MessageBox, listctrl.InsertItem ..... to get unicode strings on the screen - best results according to the platform/language settings (mainly XP Home, W2K, ...). Also unicode strings should be displayed as nice as possible at the console with normal print-s to stdout (on varying platforms, different

I am writing a small console application that runs fine unless I am re- directing the output to a file (i.e. c:\ app.exe >>output.txt) . I have determined that the issue is caused by the Console.Clear() function. When piping to a file, the console.clear causes the following error: Unhandled Exception: System.IO.IOException: The handle is invalid. at System.IO.IO__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

Hi I am trying to read text files that are saved in ANSI format with Unicode characters such as French e German big S etc, and as I read the file these characters appear as squares etc. I know that if the file would be saved as Unicode this wouldn't be a problem. The question is whether there is an option that when I create the Stream

The following perl program prints the russian alphabet in Cryllic when I use the urxvt console from cygwin. It seems to understand UTF-8 better than cmd.exe. perl -wle "binmode STDOUT, q; print chr() for 0x410 .. 0x430;" How can I translate this program to C# and write a console mode C# program that emits UTF-8 and displays the proper Cryllic glyphs? I don't care what console it works with, cmd.exe or urxvt are fine.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
