Directory.Creat eDirectory and File.Copy not working with UNC

Hi,

I call Directory.Creat eDirectory and File.Copy from VB.NET with a UNC path
that has a dollar sign ($) - "\\servername\f oldername$\chil dfoldername\" and
it gives me this error message:

System.IO.Direc toryNotFoundExc eption - Could not find a part of the path
"\\servername\f oldername$"

Do I need to have an absolute path and not a relative path, which the dollar
sign provides?

Thanks,

NewbieDev

I have been working on a class that moves files around and have come to a need to move an entire directory at one time. I thought that this would be really simple (some kind of CopyDirectory command) but no such luck. How can you move a Folder/Directory in vb.net Thank Brad

In VB.NET, is there any way to copy a directory and all its contents to a new location using io.Directory or io.DirectoryInfo etc. without having to import the Scripting.FileSystemObject? io.Directory and DirectoryInfo only seem to have a Move command, but what about copying?

I found a real nice article on how to copy a directory on MSDN. The only problem is that I can not figure out how to get the namespace Microsoft.VisualBasic.MyServices. I wanted to know if anyone else has had experience with this, or knows of a different way to copy a directory using VB. I found ways to copy files, but not having a lot of luck with finding a way to copy a directory other then this information I am finding on MSDN.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
